Knowledge Is Part of the Journey

Understanding your treatment helps you take ownership of your recovery. Explore what to expect, how care is structured, and what support looks like at every level.

Starting Treatment

What to Expect at Ascending Partners

Taking the first step can feel uncertain. Here's what the process looks like from your first call to your first group session — so you can walk in with confidence.

01

Initial Inquiry

Reach out by phone or our contact form. A care coordinator will connect with you to answer questions and gather basic information — no pressure, no judgment.

02

Multidimensional Assessment

We conduct a comprehensive ASAM-based assessment covering your biomedical, psychological, and social needs. This is a conversation, not an interrogation — your voice shapes the plan.

03

Level of Care Recommendation

Based on your assessment, we recommend the appropriate level of care. For most patients, this begins with our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP).

04

Treatment Plan Development

Your individualized treatment plan is built around your strengths, goals, and support structure — not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

05

Begin Your Program

You join your IOP group, attend sessions, and begin building the skills, connections, and resilience that support lasting recovery.

The ASAM Framework

Six Dimensions of Assessment

The ASAM Criteria evaluates six dimensions of a patient's life to ensure care addresses the whole person — not just the substance use.

1

Acute Intoxication & Withdrawal

Assessment of current intoxication and potential for withdrawal complications, guiding medical stabilization needs.

2

Biomedical Conditions

Physical health conditions and medical history that may affect treatment or require concurrent care.

3

Emotional & Cognitive Conditions

Mental health, emotional stability, and cognitive functioning — including co-occurring disorders.

4

Readiness to Change

Your motivation, awareness, and willingness to engage in treatment — a strength-based starting point, not a judgment.

5

Relapse & Continued Use Potential

Understanding triggers, patterns, and risk factors to build a proactive, personalized relapse prevention plan.

6

Recovery Environment

Your living situation, social support, family dynamics, and community resources — the context your recovery lives in.
